Report noise pollution

When you report a noise problem, we keep your name, phone number, and address confidential unless subpoenaed by a court of law.

File a complaint with us only if you experience excessive noise from commercial and residential sources within the unincorporated areas of the County.

This County website can help you determine whether an address is in an unincorporated area. You may also contact us at (408) 918-3400 for this information between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

We only investigate noise pollution in County's unincorporated areas. Describe the following:

  1. The noise pollution source.
  2. The noise in detail (e.g., loud screech, whine, grind, bang, music, etc.).
  3. The frequency in which the noise is occurring (e.g., sporadically, continuously).
  4. The dates and times of the occurrences.
  5. The background noise at your location (e.g., freeway, animals, truck traffic, crickets, etc.) and list anything that you believe could interfere with measuring the primary noise.
  6. Any other information that would assist us in investigating the issue (e.g., a specific pattern of occurrence or schedules that can be replicated during a monitoring event)

 

For example, name the business where problem occurred.

The business or place must be located in Santa Clara County California for DEH to take action. 

For example, the address of a business or a description of the location.
